Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Escape Room?

Players enter into an Escape Room and have 60 minutes to work together to find the clues, solve the riddles and complete the puzzles & challenges within the room. Hints, tips and solutions are provided if you are running behind schedule or are unable to solve any clues. The focus is on having fun! Health and Safety requires that there is always one un-locked door per room which is normally the room you first entered.

What's the address?

156 Bank Street. The blue building opposite McDonalds.

Which room should I choose?

We recommend Pandamonium for your first Escape Room and for kids/young teenagers birthday parties

The Heist is a harder room and recommended for those with Escape Room experience.

Who's Next is for those who enjoy a good scare and is our hardest escape room (popular with teens/young adults).

How many people can we have per room?

There is a maximum of 7 players per room. There must be at least one player aged 14 or over per room.

How early do I need to arrive for my Escape Room?

Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. This allows time for an intro video, what to expect in an escape room and bathroom stop prior to starting.  For example, if you book a 10:00 am Escape Room, please arrive at 9:50 am. Don't be late!

Am I sharing the room with others?

You have sole use of the room that you and your group have purchased. You will not join in or have others join in any rooms.

Where can I park?

Carparks are available at the front and back of the building. Otherwise, there is plenty of street parking available.

Are we really locked in?

No. Health and Safety requires that there is always one un-locked door per room.

Are rooms suitable for children?

Escape Rooms are suitable for children aged 7 and above. Children under 7 may accompany an adult, however most puzzles and clues would not be suitable for them. Who's Next is recommended for ages 13+.

What if I have more or less people than I booked for

For birthdays and events you might not know how many people can make it on the day. If you book for 4 people and 5 turn up on the day, then you can pay the difference in cash or online banking. We can also reimburse you if you book for too many.

Can I cancel or reschedule?

Yes. Use the booking app to cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours prior to the start of the Escape Room. Unfortunately, no refunds are available for changes within 48 hours.

What happens if I'm running late?

Escape Rooms run at scheduled start times and need to be cleaned and reset for each session. If you are running late, your Escape Room finish time will be shorter than the allotted 60 minutes. Unfortunately we cannot delay the start time so please allow plenty of time and arrive 10 minutes early for the intro and brief. Don't be late!

Do I have to pre-book?

Pre-booking is advisable however walk-ins are acceptable if rooms are available. You can pay by online banking or cash.  To avoid disappointment, please pre-book.

How do I book and pay if I don't have a credit card?

If you don't have a credit card, please contact us on Bookings@EscapeOnBankStreet.co.nz and we can reserve a date and time for your Escape Room. You can then pay by online banking or cash.

Is their wheelchair access to the Escape Rooms?

Due to the split level nature of the building and tight corridors the Escape Rooms are not suitable for wheelchair access.

Can I bring food and drink into the Escape Rooms?

Unfortunately you cannot bring food/drink into our rooms as props/equipment may get damaged. We do not currently have a party room.

Group bookings and team building/work functions?

If you have group bookings or want to reserve a date and time that is not listed on the Bookings page, then please contact us on Bookings@EscapeOnBankStreet.co.nz and we can reserve a date and time for your Escape Room. We can currently host 3 rooms at the same time, so up to 21 people.
